Popfrenzy are thrilled to announce the arrival of DFA’s synth-pop, post-disco don The Juan Maclean into the fold.

New York native John Maclean began his foray into music as the guitarist for indie dance-punk band Six Finger Satellite.  It was here that sound engineer James Murphy, better known as founder of the influential DFA Record label and starting LCD Soundsystem, would eventually join Maclean.  After the band broke up, Maclean spent several years out of the music business, but continued a friendship with Murphy, who later urged Maclean to get back into music, and got Maclean experimenting with modern electronic mixing equipment.

This sees several of Maclean’s compositions included on DFA compilation records, culminating in the release of his debut album “Less Than Human” in 2005. This was closely followed by an American tour in 2006 supporting The DFA Remixes Chapter 2, and more recently a tour of Australia with Cut Copy and label-mates Shocking Pinks in 2008.

Juan's tenure on the turntables and live performances have seen him spin in places as far apart as Dublin and Sao Paolo, and he is set to breakthrough with the release of his much-anticipated second album “The Future Will Come”.  With the help of DFA label mates Gerry Fuchs (!!!), Nick Millhiser and Alex Frankel (Holy Ghost!), and Nancy Whang (LCD Soundsystem) Juan has put together an album full of surprises, book ended with two club hits, “The Simple Life” and “Happy House” the international club anthem that graced many a 2008 “best of” lists from Pitchfork to Time Out New York.  The future may be here already.
