According to Urban dictionary, Meanderthals are "people who wander around aimlessly and always seem to get in your way in stores and supermarkets, chatting on their cell phones and paying no attention to their surroundings." The name takes on a new meaning as UK-based disco fiends Idjut Boys and Norwegian maestro Rune Lindbæk have donned the name for their new recording project.
Meanderthals call in the talents of Pete Z, Des Morgan, Per Martinsen (AKA Mental Overdrive) and more throughout the Balearic-tinged proceedings. A unique blend of dub, folk, prog, kraut, psychedelia and 70s west-coast, Meanderthals are a purely instrumental affair. Desire Lines is roomy and unfussy despite the genre mashing, and is an overt ode to Balaeric - that laid-back, Ibiza-born, house-music answer to Jimmy Buffett.
