Self-taught electronic producer, Porter Robinson began futzing around with beats on his mum’s computer in his hometown Chapel Hill, North Carolina by the age of 12. He has since leaped to international prestige as a genre-busting electro-house mastermind being named #7 in the Billboard 21 under 21 list, #1 in InTheMix’s 25 under 25 list, #5 in DJ Times’ 2013 ranking for America’s Best DJ, #13 on the ARIA Charts and #3 on the Australian iTunes charts.
In 2014 Porter revealed his debut album, Worlds via Astralwerks, an evocative journey through textural synth pop. With more than 185 million album streams and 100,000+ in ticket sales for his 2014 Worlds Live tour, his triumphant headline appearances across the global festival circuit saw a run of sold out dates across Australia and a much-talked about performance at Splendour in the Grass 2015. Porter Robinson has played every global festival world it’s salt, including Coachella, Stereosonic, Ultra Music Festival and Tomorrowland.
There’s never been anything conventional about Porter’s approach to music. The arcade-stomping game Dance Dance Revolution undoubtedly influenced his 2010 debut single, ‘Say My Name’. Success swiftly followed as he signed a one-EP deal with Skrillex’s OWSLA label which reached No.1 on the iTunes Dance chart and Beatport’s overall chart, crashing Beatport’s servers on release. In 2012, he scored an iTunes No.1 with the shimmering ‘Language’, accompanied by reputable remixes for the likes of Avicii and Lady Gaga.
The 24-year old’s latest surprise joint single with Madeon, ‘Shelter’ dropped in August 2016. Written and recorded in DJ/producer Madeon’s hometown of France, the highly anticipated collaboration is a celebration of their longstanding friendship.
